Questions & Answers
Q. Question? hi guys!

i was wondering if someone could help me out,
i am looking for a 2 week weight loss diet plan, i want this diet plan to contain the food which i should eat from day 1 till day 14. it doesn't have to be necessary that it has to be a 2 week diet plan, it could even be 1 week.

from an exercise point of view, i have everything planned out, i currently loose/burn 360 calories (through exercise) a day and consume around 1900. i do not feel that my diet is correct as I'm not getting good results.
I'm hoping to see a diet which guide me to consume around 800 calories to 1,300 calories a day.

thanks guys'
best answer gets 10 points :D

A. Best Answer: i eat 800 to 1200 calories a day.

breakfast - scrambled egg. cheerios or any non fatty cereal or fruit
lunch- salad with italian dressing. or fruit
dinner- eat any kind of meat only baked thgh, and eat plenty of veggies or a potatoe.

snacks-fruits applesauce popcorn

excercise hour a day and drink 4+ bottles of water a day.

i lost 7 pds in a week on that diet

Q. Question? OK here's the deal
I recently went to the doctors in order to get the combined contraceptive pill in order to regulate my periods, and was told I couldn't due to my BMI being far too high. I am now trying to loose weight not only in order to take the pill, but for the obvious other health benefits.

I'm looking for the smaller changes that people have made in their lives to help them loose weight, like switching cheese for toast as a topping for pasta.
I am a student so cutting down on alcohol isn't realistic, especially as i am not a particularly heavy drinker anyway. And please not green tea as I'm allergic :)
Anything else will be gratefully received :)

A. Best Answer: taking a daily vitamin can help supplement your change in diet
It sounds stupid but keeping a food journal really helped me be more conscious of when, why, what and how much i am eating...and then weed unnecessary junk food out

Q. Question? How long would this take any one got any good diet plans or tips i'm not really into exercise so say I did 30 mins of cardio a day what would I need to eat to lose it quickly?

A. Best Answer: Diet is key, although exercise is important too, You say you don't want to do much, but 30 mins of cardio a day would equal 3 1/2 hours of exercise a week. You could do much more productive exercising with this time allowance (or even less time).

Losing 1-2lbs a week is the best way to go. This way, you are losing mostly fat, rather than water and muscle. Faster weight loss is not better, nor is it sustainable.

Diet should be what you look at first for weight loss- this is what will enable you to drop fat. Try a balanced diet made up of mostly natural whole foods, with high protein, moderate carbs and moderate fats.

You need to know how many calories you burn- you can use an online calculator for a rough estimate. Aim for 10-20% calories fewer than you burn daily (too large a deficit will be counterproductive in the longer term).

Don't worry about complicated diets or cutting things out. You can enjoy anything in moderation, as long as the majority of your diet is healthy.

Base your meals around:

Lean protein (e.g. chicken, tuna, lean beef, fat-free cottage cheese, egg whites)
Wholegrains (e.g. wholewheat bread, oats, bran cereals, rice)
Healthy fats (e.g. nuts, seeds, olive oil, avocado, salmon, whole eggs, flaxseed)
Fruit and veg

And drink lots of water.

Second in importance to diet, is heavy resistance training- this is what will allow you to preserve muscle so you look 'toned' and defined once you've dropped the fat (rather than just a smaller version of how you look now, with the same bits you're unhappy with). More muscle also means a higher metabolism, so you definitely want to hold on to, or increase the muscle base you have, for fat loss.

You need to work ALL your major muscle groups- you can't spot reduce.

Do this sort of training 3-4 times a week. A good place to start could be:
-Three days a week doing full-body workouts. Leave at least a day between each workout.
-OR four days a week alternating upper and lower body. Don't work out more than two days in a row if possible.

Then you can look at extras like cardio to help create a calorie deficit. But cardio is by far the least important of these three, and you can lose fat effectively without it.

Make sure you're getting at least one rest day a week with no exercise at all.

Focus on losing inches/dress sizes rather than actual scale weight- it's how slim you look that matters, not how little you weigh.

Q. Question? I am TTC and have PCOS wil losing 10% of my weight be a more realistic weight loss to help me conceive rather than just a few pounds??

A. Best Answer: It may or may not help. But if you are overweight it will give you a lot more energy. Energy that can be used TTC and ultimately chasing a little one around the house. I lost 20 lbs (more than 10%) and I can't believe what a difference it made.

Q. Question? I've read a few things saying eggs aren't good if you're on a diet or trying to lose weight but I don't really get why
I mean they have like 70 calories in them
You could live on 17 eggs a day and that still wouldn't be 1200 calories, not that I would ever do that since obviously nothing is good for you if you eat that much and you would be missing out on other nutrients
but wouldn't it still be okay to have a few eggs a few times a week? 70 calories is only a small part of what people are meant to consume daily..

A. Best Answer: Eggs are fine, full of protein rather than carbs, and they don't raise cholesterol either - that is more down to eating saturated fats. However, like all things, eat them in moderation. And please avoid diets. To stay trim and healthy you need to eat a healthy balanced diet and take regular exercise. There's no point going on any diet only to come off it, resume old habits and then pile the weight back on! See http://www.mybodymassindex.co.uk for some good advice

Q. Question? Im not fat or nothing but im really chubby. im only a couple of pounds from being clinically overweight. My friends make jokes and laugh around and so do i but sometimes it gets a bit carried away. I realised recently that i have put on a lot of weight, not by looking at the scales but clothes that were too big for me 4 months ago are now a tight squeeze (and no i haven't got taller) has anyone got any tips to shed the pounds and keep motivated, i have a treadmill and have started to use it but already im getting bored of it. Any eating tips as well?

A. Best Answer: I'm afraid long cardio will not do you much good, well not as much as high intensity interval training. This form of training seriously elevates your heart rate and metabolism per workout and the effects of the workout lasts far longer than long low intensity cardio workouts. But don't just take my word for it please research high intensity training and whilst you're doing that you may want to look into Peripheral Heart Action and kettlebell training - it is simply brilliant

Q. Question? I still have a considerable amount of weight to lose. I am female and sitting at 35% body fat - any ideas?

A. Best Answer: That is really good. Losing weight is not a good measure of anything because muscle ways more than fat. Just go on how well your jeans fit. Then you know for sure if you have got thinner.

Q. Question? I am ashamed to say that at nearly forty years old and weighing 16stone 10lbs (or 234pounds) I am over 8 stone (or 100 pounds) overweight for my height. I have decided to do something about it for health reasons and I started a few days ago by doing an hour of exercise everyday.I do a five minute warm up slow walk on the treadmill, I then do twenty minutes of power walking on the treadmill but every five minutes I do 30 seconds of running (all I can manage at the moment!) I then do a five minute cool down walk. I follow that up with twenty minutes of a toning dvd and then ten minutes of pilates (which nearly kills me!)

My question is this,is this enough? I am really tired and sweating by the end of it so I am not sure I could manage anymore but to seriously lose weight is an hour a day enough? I am receiving conflicting views, my friend who is in a similar position says I should be doing two hours a day, the problem is every time I try this, I get bored/tired/sick of it and I give up,the thought of an hour a day feels achievable and this is something I want to commit to for life,my brother who is a champion bodybuilder says this is enough as a slow weight loss is better,he also recommends no dieting and instead uses portion control with the emphasis on healthy eating but a small amount of what you fancy, I again find this easier to stick to than any diet, as I eat when I am hungry, eat whatever I like but just make a conscious effort to finish when I am full (even if this is after a few bites) and am finding this so much easier to stick to than any diet I have ever done (and there has been millions!)

So again is an hour a day enough for serious weight loss and then maintaining it or should I be doing two? Also, although I realize a slow weight loss is healthier and better, my daughter gets married in eight weeks, can I expect to see a difference by then with an hour a day of exercise? Is my exercise plan right? I am confused with all the conflicting info both from people and on the internet.

A. Best Answer: An hour a day is enough, do as much as you can cope with and commit to it as you said.

But you need to change what you do in a that hour.

As your main goal is to loose weight, find a routine that is achievable and maximises what you burn in that hour, for this i would get some help a some professional advice.

If you can keep this up you will get to the stage where it becomes a lot easier, this is where you intensify your workout. But make sure that you will be able to continue.

REMEMBER don't worry about the intensity and duration too much when you start up, the important thing is that you persist and don't give up.

good luck.

Q. Question? At easter I'm going home from uni for 4 weeks - now I've been going to the gym 3-4 times a week whilst I've been at uni. When I get home, there isn't a gym nearby and we don't have any home gym equipment. I can't do road running due to a medical condition as it is too high impact but walking is ok. What can I do to either maintain my weight loss over the holidays or at least maintain my current weight for the time being?

A. Best Answer: I'd look into plyometrics circuits. If you google it, you'll find a whole range of stuff you can do at home. If you have medical issues, be sure to take it at your own pace and build up slowly.

The main thing you need to keep in check for weight loss/maintenance is diet.
